The concept of a hydrogen economy has recently generated a great deal of interest and discussion. Much of this has related to the technological ‘possibilities’ that a future hydrogen economy may open up, particularly in addressing issues such as CO2 emissions reduction and security of energy supply. The aim of this seminar series is to encourage engagement with this debate amongst social scientists through creating a forum which brings together a number of currently disconnected key strands of social science research. This seminar series will engage a variety of stakeholders from the policy community, industrial interests, the research and development community and will also encourage contributions from postgraduate and post-doctoral researchers. Through a series of 6 seminars in Manchester, Cardiff and London, over two years, beginning in October 2004, the objectives are:
Seminar Two: Regional Contexts and the Nascent Hydrogen Economy: Institutions, Actors and Social Learning Seminar Three: Pathways to the Hydrogen Economy: Revolution or Evolution? Seminar Four: Risk and Public Acceptability of Hydrogen Seminar Five: Future Economics and Markets for Hydrogen Applications & Infrastructure Seminar Six: Governing Socio-Technical Transitions: Implications for Hydrogen Economies’ If you would like further information about this project, please contact Mike Hodson (M.Hodson@salford.ac.uk) |
